What is a Salary (CTC to In-Hand) Calculator?
Every offer letter in India throws around one big, exciting number โ the CTC, or Cost to Company. What actually lands in your bank account each month is smaller, once Provident Fund contributions, professional tax, and other deductions are taken out. This calculator bridges that gap: enter your annual CTC and it estimates how it splits into Basic pay, HRA, PF contribution, and the approximate monthly amount you'll actually see credited to your account.
CTC Breakdown Formula
HRA = Basic ร 40%
Employee PF = Basic ร 12%
Gross Monthly = CTC รท 12
Approx. In-Hand = Gross Monthly โ PF โ (Gross Monthly ร 1%, approx. professional tax/other deductions)
Worked Example
Take an annual CTC of โน12,00,000.
| Component | Annual | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Salary (50% of CTC) | โน6,00,000 | โน50,000 |
| HRA (40% of Basic) | โน2,40,000 | โน20,000 |
| Employee PF (12% of Basic) | โน72,000 | โน6,000 |
| Gross Monthly Pay (CTC รท 12) | โ | โน1,00,000 |
| Approx. In-Hand | โ โน11,16,000 | โ โน93,000 |
So on a โน12,00,000 CTC, expect roughly โน93,000 credited each month after PF and about 1% for professional tax and minor deductions. This is only an estimate โ your actual in-hand salary depends on your company's specific pay structure (some CTCs bundle in bonuses, gratuity, or insurance premiums), the professional tax slab of your state (Maharashtra, Karnataka, and West Bengal each differ), and your income tax liability under the old or new regime.
